Truth and Goodbye.

Wow I haven't updated in a while. Since my last blog, I've learned so much but faced so many setbacks that it doesn't seem worth it. My main lesson is what I've decided to blog about.
Unless you've lived in a bubble or are very young, you've probably had to say goodbye to someone you care about at some point. Saying goodbye is never easy, but knowing you'll see that person again is usually the easiest way to cusion the blow. Another good way to think about it is reminding yourself that they probably feel just as awful as you do, which means they care too.
But what if they don't feel the same way? What if they don't even care? What if they are glad to be getting away from you so they can be around the people they really care about?
Either way, if this person means something to you and you think that by saying goodbye they'll find something better, you try to be strong for them and make it seem like it's not such a big deal. The new job, new place, new significant other, or whatever is taking them away is probably best for them anyway and because you love this person you want them to choose the best path. So what if it kills you inside to see them drive away? Maybe if they don't see you cry as you turn your back after saying goodbye, it'll make that big decision that much easier.
This seems like the best course of action, and this is the one I have taken may times, but is it worth it? What if your "strength for their sake" is taken as indifference? If they never know how much you love them, how much it kills you to say goodbye to them, will they think that you simply don't care? I honestly don't know.
I guess the point of this is just to tell all the people on the World Wide Web who are probably more concerned with the latest viral video or the next outrageous development in the political world that every goodbye could be the final goodbye. Leave nothing important unsaid or you'll be left with poisonous thoughts of what could have been and what should be.

  1. Did you see the video of the big cat hugging the little cat its just soooooo adorable!!! No dude i'm totally kidding. Goodbyes are hard, but you have one thing going for you, you are less afraid to show emotion and everyone that knows you well knows what you are thinking even when you don't say it. Unsaid things don't exist with people who know you well enough to make it hard to say goodbye. Because of that you don't have to worry about indifference. And no goodbye is ever the final goodbye.
